Corporate Coffee Systems (CCS) got its start in February of 1985. Founded by David & Gregg Henchel and Donn Luti, the initial investment used to get the business off the ground was $3,000 borrowed from a Master Card credit card, which was used to purchase three desks, a filing cabinet, and an unsophisticated phone system. CCS began its operation from the basement of the Henchels' house, using the family's garage for storing water and soda. David and Donn manned the phones, packed orders, billed invoices, and loaded up the sole company van while Gregg handled all of the deliveries, service calls, and installations. CCS hired another salesperson to join the team before long as the company began to grow. Getting going in the New York office coffee industry in the early days was based on a lot of on-the-job training. A typical workweek consisted of 100 hours, but the tight knit group found just being in business extremely rewarding. By the fall of that first year, CCS was out of the Henchels' basement, moving up and into a 500 square foot mini-warehouse located in Inwood, Long Island. Although small, this new building provided CCS with its first true office and separate warehouse. With the new building, CCS was able to provide a full line of coffee, bottled water, soda, juice, and other office refreshments for the entire greater New York area. CCS continued to expand, and in November of 1987, the company moved into a 2,700 sq ft office in Jamaica, Queens. Featuring high ceilings and a loading dock, CCS's first building came at the right time. Corporate Coffee Systems was making a name for itself in New York office coffee services, which allowed for hiring another salesperson along with a few route drivers and a couple of client service representatives. It was around this time that CCS was able to make its first acquisition, taking on a small NY coffee service known as Metropolitan Coffee Service. October of 1990 saw Corporate Coffee Systems move into an 8,800 sq ft complex in their old stomping grounds of Inwood, NY. The facility included a new, modern 2,500 sq ft office and a large warehouse. The upgrade in space allowed CCS to add more salespeople, but it was the surge in overall business that allowed the acquisitions of even more NY-area office coffee companies such as Cafeccino Inc., Aero-Vend Inc., Belmont Coffee Service, Price Coffee Service, Pure Water Service, Café Vicere, and Brewmaster Coffee Service. A decade later, Corporate Coffee Systems realized its dream, as the company moved into a brand new 25,000 sq ft building in Westbury, NY. The new location gave CCS two drive-in doors, a modern service center, and 19-foot ceilings. Just as importantly, it provided 21,000 sq ft warehouse with four loading docks. Not only spacious, the location gave CCS the reach to comfortably cater to its Manhattan office coffee clients while still being able to cover plenty of ground outside of the city. On December 15th, 2003, CCS merged with Filterfresh of Manhattan/MrsJava LLC. This joining of forces led to Corporate Coffee Systems opening up a new Sales & Service office located on West 37th Street in Midtown Manhattan. Increased sales, service, management, and support personnel were some of the immediate benefits of the merger. Filterfresh of Manhattan also helped introduce CCS to new sales/marketing approaches and equipment service processes. Corporate Coffee Systems is now a 26 year-old comprehensive NY coffee and beverage supplies operator. CCS covers the New York metro area including Long Island, Fairfield County CT, Northern NJ, and New York City. Corporate Coffee Systems currently employs over 80 people, has 16 route trucks, and 7 service vehicles. They also hold several exclusive or semi-exclusive office programs including Keurig single-cup coffee, Filterfresh branded equipment, Innowave coolers, Flavia Freshpacks, and Tassimo T-Discs. Another proud part of their service is the Café© Excellence pod brewer, which brings an authentic coffee shop experience to an office environment. In 2005, CCS acquired three more office coffee service companies from the New York area: Vending & OCS, Regal Coffee Service (Manhattan clients), and Perfect Brew Coffee Service. The following April, Corporate Coffee Systems expanded its Westbury, NY headquarters by adding an additional 14,000 sq ft of warehouse space with four more loading docks. This addition to the warehouse provided room for a specially racked area for small-boxed items and a more efficient product flow system. It also freed up enough space inside the office to permit CCS to create a brand-new client service department. A year later, they acquired NYC Culligan water clients. It didn't end there, 2008 saw Corporate Coffee Systems take on Alaskan Springs and in June 2009, Bevex Online Beverage Services. Later that same year, Filterfresh's Bronx location was absorbed, as well. And in June of 2010, CCS took on King Coffee Services. Currently, Corporate Coffee Systems is still growing rapidly by making quality acquisitions and developing strong client relationships organically. Their success is based on their commitment to providing clients with a coffee-break solution that exceeds all of their expectations. We sincerely thank all of our CCS employees and especially our clients, "it's with their continual support that Corporate Coffee Systems is able to bring the kind of New York office coffee experience that helps us stand alone". |
